Wilts CIL provides training opportunities to people in Wiltshire who receive a Direct Payment and those who self fund their own social care. Training is provided directly by Wilts CIL trainers or by contracting reputable trainers depending on the course.
The courses cover a wide range of topics – from management and finance to Support Planning and DET (Disability Equality Training) – and are delivered by experienced and knowledgeable trainers. Individual bespoke training is provided on request.
Wilts CIL is keen to make sure that the training is of high quality and meets the needs of all Service Users. We are happy to provide information about training, or receive ideas for courses or other feedback.
Wilts CIL provides a Financial Support Training Service. This training helps to make a positive and constructive impact by enabling Service Users to control and improve all aspects of financial reporting. Training topics cover a variety of issues from basic booking keeping to producing budgets and cash flow forecasts. Training is provided in small groups or provided on a one-to-one basis.
Wilts CIL undertook training needs evaluation of people attending Peer Support Groups in order to address the needs and develop appropriate training courses. This allowed us to analyse relevant courses to be beneficial to people on Direct Payments and support people to manage their own package with the right information and knowledge.
As a result of this we are introducing a range of training including new bite sized training in IT skills. The courses on offer include:
Introduction to computer skills
- Basic Introduction to Microsoft Word
- Introduction to setting up and using email
- Introduction to using the World Wide Web
- Basic financial record keeping
- Spreadsheets and managing your accounts online
- Budgeting & Cash Flow preparation
The IT courses are kept to a maximum of four/five people per session for 2.5 hours. This enables the learner to participate on a one to one level with the trainer and creates a better learning environment to learn the practicalities and enable people to be interactive within a small group approach
Wilts CIL works in partnership with other User Led Organisations in order to provide a wide spread of training and professional development and to increase the capacity and skills of people using Self Directed Support
The training offered by Wilts CIL will provide a series of courses to develop the skills and knowledge of service users across Wiltshire to enable them to fully participate and represent their needs in all future work and developments affecting them. The courses range from Assertiveness and Confidence Building to training in Management and supervising staff. With the aim to ensure service users become effective and efficient in managing care packages as well as the opportunity to take part in local representation.
