Starter Workshops for those “Thinking about,” or “New to,” Direct Payments
As part of our commitment to support people take control of their Direct Payments and have the opportunity of using it as effectively as possible, we are running workshops in different parts of the County for those who have decided to try Direct Payments rather than receive help arranged by DCS. We ran these at the end of last year and participants found it helpful to come together in a “safe” environment to talk with those experienced at using Direct Payments to learn tips about how to make the most of them. Each Workshop is tailored to the needs of participants and is suitable for Direct Payments Users and Carers from adult care and for parents of children receiving Direct Payments. Follow the link Direct Payments Workshops to learn the dates and sign up by completing the application form or sending an email to email@example.com with your request on and contact details.
We are developing a centre based on Disability Equality principles, where professionals in the voluntary, public and private sectors can come for advice and learning.
The Centre is carrying out research in 2 areas - the support needs of Direct Payment users and the experiences of Social Workers on placement in User-Led organisations. In January 2012 we published our first research report into the 'Self-Directed Training Needs of Direct Payment Users in Wiltshire'.
