The following reports have been written following pieces of work that we have done with people with lived experience of disability in order to develop and shape local services.

Whole Life Advocacy: in this report we look peoples experiences and understanding of advocacy. Including what people use advocacy for, what types of advocacy they use alongside any barriers to accessing advocacy.

Self-Directed Support Report: In this report we look at the support and advice that direct payment recipients need in order to successfully receive and manage their direct payment. Technology Enabled Care Report: During Spring 2023, we carried out a consultation exploring disabled and older people’s views about technology enabled care (TEC). People shared hundreds of ideas, thoughts and observations on various different types of technology and how they could be used to support people to live independent Lives. Good Lives Alliance – My Life Choices: In this report we draw on and synthesise previous engagement with thousands of people with lived experience in Wiltshire about what their good life looks like, whilst also looking at how this now becomes a reality for people, focusing on                                                     the choice and control people need to live a good                                                             independent life.                                                                                                                   GLA Report – My Life Choices March 2023

 

Wiltshire Inclusive Bus Project Report: The Wiltshire Inclusive Bus Project is a project led by disabled people in Wiltshire who are invited all involved in the bus industry to join the campaign for more inclusive and accessible bus travel. The project bought together over 200 disabled people, as well as bus drivers, employees, and managers throughout the bus industry. People shared their experiences of bus travel and re-imagined what an                                         accessible bus service could look like.                                                                                 Inclusive Bus Project Handbook

Valuing Feedback: How to Understand Peoples Experiences of Adult Social Care: During October and November 2022, Wiltshire Centre for Independent Living held a short consultation to discuss how people would like to give feedback after using Wiltshire Council services. Short Breaks Innovation Fund 2022: This report looks at the opportunities that young people would like to be provided with in order to get them prepared and excited for adult life. Over 90 young people shared their thoughts and ideas about the things that they would like to do before they reach the age of 25 and what they may need in order to make it happen.                                                     Short Breaks Innovation Fund Report October 2022

 

Smarter Homes for Independent Living: The purpose of this work is to help inform Wiltshire’s housing development and standards through understanding what Autistic people, people with Learning Disabilities and mental health issues would need as the minimum standard of housing to give them greater control, choice and independence. WCIL Spring Gathering 2022: In May 2022 we came together for our Spring Gathering, it was an opportunity for us to catch up, hear new ideas, take stock and plan for an exciting future. The day was focused around the KEY MESSAGES about what people need to live their good life. The Spring Gathering Magazine highlights all of the ideas and pledges that were made to make a good life a reality.

 

Supporting Young People on their Journey to Adulthood Report: Between November 2021 and January 2022 Wiltshire Centre for Independent Living (WCIL) and Wiltshire Parent Carer Council (WPCC) worked together on this piece of work is to understand what disabled young people aged 14 to 25 and their parent carers need in order for young people to live a fulfilling and rewarding life in Wiltshire. It’s My Life: The purpose of this piece of work is to understand people’s views and ideas about how they want to live their lives, what is important to people and what they need in order to live their good lives. The Future of Mental Health Support: In May 2021, Wiltshire Centre for Independent Living (WCIL), Wiltshire Parent Carer Council (WPCC) and Healthwatch Wiltshire were asked by Bath & North East Somerset, Swindon, and Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BSW CCG) to facilitate a series of online workshops for people with lived experience of mental health support to hear what good support looks like for them. Voices of Disability: Voices of Disability is a campaign created by Wiltshire CIL’s User Engagement Team it raises awareness of disability through sharing the voices and messages of people in Wiltshire. Tales from the Town: This co-produced project has been collecting stories from the people of Devizes and the surrounding area since the end of the first lockdown. By sharing our experiences, we hope to help the kindness in the community that has been shown throughout to grow and continue beyond any lockdowns. Young, Disabled: Lockdown and My Future: We wanted to hear from 16-25 year olds about their experiences of lockdown in the Covid-19 pandemic. Life under Lockdown during Covid-19: The purpose of this piece of work was to gain peoples experiences of life under lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic.  The report outlines what was positive and negative for our communities and hopes and fears for the future.

Experiences During Covid-19: The views of disabled people and their carers during COVID-19.  Views were captured in an online survey set within a timeframe of just one week.

Meaningful Lives: The purpose of this piece of work was to understand what people want to do during the daytime in order to have meaningful lives. This report outlines the discussions had with people who attend day centres and evening social groups. The work focuses on people with Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Visual Impairment, Dementia and older people who attend the day centres and social groups. Day Services Report 2019

 

Accommodation and Support: The purpose of this piece of work was to understand people’s experiences of living in a supported or residential setting or receiving support through outreach services.  The project gathered the views of those with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health Issues.   Accommodation & Support Report 2019

 

 

ImaYDiT: This piece of work was a research project that brought together young disabled people in Wiltshire, staff at Wiltshire CIL and researchers at the University of the West of England to imagine young disabled peoples transitions in a time of big societal change. ImaYDit-Final Report 2018
