INDEPENDENT LIVING : DIRECT PAYMENT ADVISER
Location: Wiltshire Centre for Independent Living 11 Couch Lane Devizes SN10 1EB
Hours: 25 hours (days/times to be negotiated/confirmed)
Salary: £24,112 pro rata
Are you a good communicator? Do you enjoy working with people? Do you have a social care background? Could you provide advice to disabled and older people to enable them to live their good life?
We have a vacancy for an Adviser – Independent Living in our Direct Payment Support Service which works with disabled and older people in Wiltshire to enable them to employ their own Personal Assistants to meet their care needs.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a team that promotes disabled and older people having choice, independence, and control over their lives. You will support direct payment recipients to lead independent lives through choosing their type of care, including successfully employing their own Personal Assistants providing them with information and advice in budgeting, employment rights, recruitment, payroll, processing DBS checks and how to be a good employer.
To do this job you will:
- Be a people person with great listening and communication skills who can work with all sorts of people.
- Have a background in working in social care.
- Be passionate about working with and supporting people to live their good lives.
- Have an eye for detail and be organised.
- Be able to organise and prioritise your time managing a case load.
- Have sound IT skills and be able to keep accurate records.
You will be based in our Devizes office, working across Wiltshire, visiting people in their homes. You will be part of a friendly, supportive, and hard-working team.
The successful candidates will receive an induction and all the training needed to undertake the role.

Volunteering
We welcome volunteers in various roles within the organisation and particularly value the expertise disabled people bring with them from their ‘lived experience’. Currently we have vacancies for suitable disabled people as:
- Trustees
- Peer Mentors
- Disabled people interested in contributing to training
- Co-production group
