COMMUNITY CONNECTOR – SARUM WEST (Closing 23rd September 2022)

Location: Locality Base – Mere Surgery, Dark Lane, Mere, Warminster, Wiltshire BA12 6DT 

Please note: This job will be predominantly based in the Sarum West locality.  Head office – Wiltshire Centre for Independent Living, 11 Couch Lane, Devizes, SN10 1EB.

Hours: 35 hours per week     Salary: £26,390

Are you a good communicator? Do you enjoy working with people?

We have a vacancy for a Community Connector – working with people in our community to ensure they get to live their good life.

To do this job you will:

  • Be a real people person with great listening and communication skills who can work with all sorts of people.
  • Be able to spot what people are good at and nurture it.
  • Be OK with providing support and motivation to enable people to take the lead.
  • Be highly organised and confident.
  • Be creative and have a willingness to do things differently.
  • A practical and friendly person who works in a flexible and supportive way.
  • A team player who is willing to go the extra mile.

You will be mainly out and about in the Sarum West locality, and your commute will be to the Mere Surgery, Mere, Warminster.  You will also be required to come to our Devizes office for your induction and then, on average once a month for peer support and learning opportunities.

The successful candidates will receive an induction and all the training needed to undertake the role. This will include lots of opportunities to shadow our existing Connectors.

Volunteering

We welcome volunteers in various roles within the organisation and particularly value the expertise disabled people bring with them from their ‘lived experience’.  Currently we have vacancies for suitable disabled people as:

  • Trustees
  • Peer Mentors
  • Disabled people interested in contributing to training
  • Co-production group

We have a full volunteer policy and approval system and each volunteering role has its own role description and person specification.  If you are interested please email the office.
